A-League: Melbourne Victory V Sydney FC
- Location: Marvel Stadium
- Date: Saturday 7th March
- Time: kickoff 7:30pm
While the weather may be starting to cool, the A-League season certainly isn’t!
This March, the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry takes to the pitch, as A-League giants Melbourne Victory and Syndey FC face off at Marvel Stadium.
Sitting comfortably at the top of the ladder with a whopping 10 point lead over the next team and with 10 wins out of their last 13 games, the Sky Blues are in a commanding position going in.
By contrast, the Victory has had a rough couple of years, going from the League’s dominant team just a handful of seasons ago to treading water near the bottom of the ladder.
All indications point to Sydney claiming this round of the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry.
Then again, you never can know! We’ll certainly be crossing our fingers!

Melbourne Grand Prix
- Location: Albert Park
- Date: Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th March

If you’re a petrolhead, you can’t miss the Melbourne Grand Prix!

It isn’t just a race - there’s also the glitz, glamour, drama, and of course, the opportunity to see the most powerful cars in the world in action.
Think of it like the Melbourne Cup, but with the horses swapped out for cars!
While Italian giant Ferrari has expressed concerns regarding its ability to compete this year, each of the world’s high-end car brands are present here:
And that’s on top of all the other competitors like Red Bull, who’ve partnered up with Honda to create their own F1 car.
In addition to the race itself, attendees will also enjoy a world of entertainment as well, with performances from chart-topping Australian singer and songwriter Pete Murray, together with Robbie Williams, who’s taking a break from his World Tour to perform for race attendees.

Affordable accommodation in Melbourne for sports fans
And if you’re attending any of these high-profile events from overseas or interstate, you’ll need to find a place to stay! (And even if you live in Melbourne, why not make a weekend out of it and book a couple of nights at our hostel?)

If only there was somewhere that offered the best of both worlds.
Good news: there is!
Our hostel in Melbourne is located just outside the CBD in Southbank, directly behind MCEC. Our fantastic location allows our guests to get anywhere in Melbourne with ease.
